Marriage
Marriage is a sacred covenant between a man and a woman, established by God, to reflect His love, unity, and faithfulness. It is both a spiritual and practical partnership, designed for companionship, mutual support, and the raising of godly families. “Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” — Matthew 19:6
Marriage is a sacred union of two children of God—a man and a woman. God is the one who instituted marriage. He is the one who found the first woman for the first man. He is the one who conceived the necessity for marriage institution. So if God started it all, you are doing the will of God for wanting to get married and God must be at the center of your marriage. If you do His will in your marriage, you will enjoy. (Gen. 2:18-25)
Many people become couples without going through any church counseling or giving any deep thought to what they get into. It is however essential for couple-to-be in our church to go through marriage counseling with the pastor and or any marriage counselor he designates – in order to be sure that the partners involved are really prepared to go into marriage—a lifetime relationship. It is essential to know that no marriage ceremony will be performed unless the couple has completed marriage counseling.
Do not start to live together before you ask for church marriage blessing, it will not be biblical. Quickly inform your Pastor as soon as you begin to develop interest in a possible future partner.
Your minister, through the help of God, will be there for you all the way until everything comes through for you. If you have already started living together, any church ceremony thereafter will not be called marriage ceremony but marriage blessing. Living together before marriage is strongly not advised. If there is pregnancy before a proper marriage, there will be neither christening nor child dedication for this type of sinful act. Both male and female involved in this act would be suspended from church rites for six months to a year. The two individuals should immediately proceed to make an arrangement of their wedding blessing ceremony.
As your ceremony gets close, both of you need to obtain marriage license from the court and bring it to your pastor. After the wedding, your pastor will complete the license and return it by mail to the court. Please note that this procedure may vary, depending on the rules o the country where you are situated.
